Ad-Hoc Sharing Network Connection Using Ubuntu Lucid



Now we can share our banwidth connection in Ubuntu Lucid, we need:

  1. Internet Connection
  2. Laptop/PC with wireless card inside
  3. Connection Manager (we can add it using Ubuntu Software Center or Synaptic Manager)
  4. dnsmasq-base packet, check it in Synaptic Manager or install in Terminal by typing : sudo aptitude install dnsmasq-base
After it, just open System-Preferences-Network Connection
Click "Wireless" Tab and Click "Add"


Type connection name i.e "ubuntu" click "Connect Automatically", SSID name "ubuntu" ,Set Mode to "Ad-hoc" let empty another choice.

At "Wireless Security" Tab choose Web 40/128-bit Keys. Fill the password with our own choice. Go to "IPv4" tab setting and Set method is Shared to others computers

Do not forget to "apply" and now we can check others Laptop/PC, it should be detect our connection name, if detected just click "connect" and fill the password we made above.
